"Married at the Phoenixville Hotel on the third of March 1870 Mr. Abraham King to Miss Kate Mills of Springville."

(There was also a marriage notice in 'The Jeffersonian,' on 3.26.1870.)

        What had initially caused some confusion for me was the following:

1840 Census. Charlestown Twp., Chester Co., Pa. (pg. 182) -
Abraham King Males: 1, 10-14; 1, 20-29. Females: 1 under 5; 1, 20-29; 1, 40-49.

Sexton's List of Burials at St. Peter's, Pikeland Cemetery -
Abraham King's Child Feb. 27 1842 [No.] 342

        Abraham King, son of George & Catharine, appears to have been the only candidate for the above two records. (To my knowledge, there were no other Abraham Kings in the area at the time.) Perhaps Abraham had two wives and two children from the first marriage? If his first wife and two children died, it would explain why he didn't marry (again) until he was fifty years old. I have not been able to find any proof of this.

Individual Note:   Michael KOENIG donated part of the land and was one of the founders of Michael KOENIG donated part of the land and was one of the founders of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Chester Springs (West Pikeland Twp.), Chester Co., Pa.

Futhey & Cope, in their 'History of Chester County' (pg. 623), say:
"Among the many emigrants to Pennsylvania betwen 1735 and 1740, from Germany, was Michael King (then written Koenig), a native of Wittenberg, who located in West Pikeland township, near Pikeland church. He was born in 1714, and was the son of a baron in the Fatherland. Upon his eldest brother succeeding to the real estate, he took his part of the patrimony in money and came to the New World, the others of his family remaining in Germany. He purchased 160 acres in Pikeland, 300 acres in Charlestown, and a tract in Uwchlan ..."

This Indenture Made the fifth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty five Between Philip King and Mary his wife Lawrence King and Mary his Wife Conard King Elizabeth Fleeman, John Moses and Mary his wife and George Sneider and Catherine his wife all in Chester County and state of Pennsylvania of the one part, And John King of the township of Charlestown in the same County and state aforesaid of the other part Whereas Joseph William and rachel his wife by their deed under their hands & seals bearing date the first day of April Anno Domini 1764 did grant release and confirm unto Michael King of the Township of Pikeland in the County and state aforesaid a Certain parcel or tract of land situate in the township of Charlestown in the County of Chester aforesaid by metes and bounds in the same recited deed particularly Mentioned Containing One hundred and five Acres and a quarter of an Acre were it more or less as the same was set forth then limitted and bounded with the appurtenances To hold to him the said Michael King his heirs and Assigns forever as in and by the said recited deed will more fully appear And whereas the said Michael King in his lifetime and at the time of his death was lawfully and rightfully seized and in possession of the above described parcel and tract of land and the said Michael King died intestate and made no will and left lawful Issue of his Body namely John King Philip King Lawrence King Conrad King & Elizabeth Fleeman Mary Moses and Catherine Sneider all of full age of twenty One years Now this Indenture Witnesseth that the said Philip King and Mary his wife Lawrence King and Mary his wife Conrad King Elizabeth Fleeman John Moses and Mary his wife George Sneider and Catharine his wife for and in consideration of two hundred and seventy five pounds ten shillings and three picence in gold and silver Money as they pass current in the state aforesaid unto them well and truly paid by the said John King at and before the delivery of these presents the receipt whereof they the said Philip King and wife Lawrence King and wife Conrad King Elizabeth Fleeman, John Moses and wife and George Sneider and wife doth hereby acknowledge and thereof doth fully acquit and discharge the said John King his heirs and Assigns by these presents Have granted Bargained sold released and Confirmed and by these presents have given granted aliened released and confirmed unto the said John King his heirs and Assigns All that above mentioned and described parcel and tract of land Land Begining at a corner stone in the line of Pikes land thence by the same south west One hundred & seven perches to a heap of stones thence south twenty nine degrees East by the land of David John and Samuel Brooke One hundred and sixty perches to a post, thence North East by the land of John Byer's One hundred and one perches to a post, thence North West by land of Griffith Jones one hundred and sixty perches to the place of Begining Containing One hundred and five Acres and one quarter of an Acre be the same more or less Situate lying and being in the township of Charlestown aforesaid Together with all and singular the Messuages Buildings Improvemints ways woods waters watercourses rights liberties privileges hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever thereunto belonging and appertaining And the reversions and remainders thereof To have and to hold ...
