VILLAGE RECORD

Obituary DIED.- on the 24th July, at the residence of his
father, (Daniel Shofner,) in Charlestown township, Chester
county, JOHN SHOFNER, Jr. in the 29th year of his age. The
deceased was a young man, whose disposition and manners were
of that amiable and conciliatory cast which endeared him to
all who came within the circle of his acquaintance. So refined
were his morals, that even his most intimate associates never
heard him utter a sentence of reproach against any one...

John was not listed as a child of Daniel in the Orphans Court filings made in 1847 when Daniel died intestate. This was because John had died prior to Daniel's death without marrying and without leaving issue to share in the estate.
